Bhopal man rapes woman after locking her inside house, arrested

An autorickshaw driver was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal on Saturday.
According to the police, the woman, 32, lives in Bhopal’s Teela Jamalpura area and works as a cook in several houses. She knew the accused, Sajid.
The survivor had gone to court on Friday and on the way home, she met Sajid, who told her that his mother wanted to meet her.
Since she knew Sajid, she went to his house to meet her mother. However, upon arriving at the house, she noticed that there was no one inside. When she tried to leave, Sajid allegedly locked the door, assaulted the woman physically, and raped her.
She started screaming, following which neighbours rushed to the spot. Sajid fled from the scene.
The survivor lodged a complaint with the police, following which a case was registered, and a search was launched for Sajid.
The woman said in her complaint that Sajid used to pressure her for marriage.
Sajid was arrested on Saturday and further investigation is on, police said.
